Washington Nationals Manager Davey Johnson Disappoints
After clinching championship, Johnson to field 'B' team—boo!
Washington Nationals Manager Davey Johnson has a great deal to be proud of this year. His exciting team has made baseball even greater through its popular players' superior athleticism. The Nats have rebounded from moribund play in prior years to become an entity which can truly be called "America's Team."
What Johnson should not be proud of is his announced decision to rest his regulars after the Nationals clinch the National League East title, as this says to the fans who pay their hard-earned money to see games, "Nuts to you."
If competition ends upon a team clinching a title, then perhaps baseball should rejigger the rules so as for that team to drop out until the playoffs. In lieu of this, those who have purchased tickets should be offered refunds for games in which the "B" team takes the field. We fans want to see the stars play hard for the duration of the season all the way up to game 162, and we deserve the thrill of viewing full-throated Major League Baseball each and every game.
