This week we hear from Rev. Kellie D. Wild,I.M.P.A.C.T.S. Program Director, East End Cooperative Ministry. How many times have we asked God “why”? Why did I lose my job? Why did my child die? Why did I get cancer? Why do tsunamis and hurricanes and tornadoes happen? If God is a God of love and justice, why is there so much pain and injustice in the world? Why was my prayer not answered? We wonder if God is real, or if God is real, does God really even care about me? We might search scripture and find it empty with no real answers, at least not the answers that we want.
How can we reconcile a God of love with the way the world is? Some might even say that if you want me to believe, then give me a God in whom I can believe – one that doesn’t allow pain and suffering, and bad things to happen, and diseases and tragedies… Then I will believe in a God of love.
