1,198 Citations Issued In State Police Thanksgiving Holiday Crackdown

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —State Police Troop M investigated 68 crashes and made 27 Driving Under the Influence arrests during its Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Enforcement.

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, announced the results of the detail which took place just after midnight Wednesday and ended just before midnight Monday. Troop M covers Bucks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties.

The safety initiative targeted drivers who aggressively operated their motor vehicles in a manner that was dangerous to the public. Enforcement involved speeding, seat belt violations, and child seat belt infractions.

In addition, troopers focused on apprehending motorists who operated their motor vehicles while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Results of the Thanksgiving holiday traffic enforcement include:

• 68 Crashes
• 9 Injuries
• 2 Alcohol-Related Crashes
• 1,198 Traffic Citations
• 302 Speeding Citations
• 27 Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Arrests
• 58 Warnings for Seatbelt Violations
• 47 Seatbelt Citations
• 12 Child Seatbelt Citations
• 14 Self-initiated criminal arrests

During the 2022 Thanksgiving traffic enforcement, state police investigated 80 crashes and made 27 DUI arrests. There were also five alcohol-related accidents.

Police also handed out 242 speeding citations, 47 seat belt citations, and 1,163 other traffic citations.

Motorists are also reminded of the mandates of Title 75 Section 3733, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, which stipulates that any driver of a motor vehicle who willfully fails or refuses to bring their vehicle to a stop, or who otherwise flees or attempts to elude a pursuing police officer, commits an offense, graded up to a felony of the 3rd degree, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, a $15,000 fine, and restitution for damages and/or injuries sustained as a result of the pursuit.
