WARMINSTER, PA —The township will hold its annual "Warminster History Day Celebration," marking a day to honor a past that dates back to 1711.

The event —by The Warminster Historical Society and Craven Hall Historical Society — takes place Saturday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Warminster Township Free Library. It kicks off with a presentation by Dan McPhillips, Bucks County Recorder of Deeds, at 12:15 p.m.

"My goal —and hopefully soon —is to have a huge historical society day," said Matthew Penge, president of The Warminster Historical Society. "Invite the societies from all over Bucks County for a weekend or a day of history. The public would have a chance to learn about the area, and areas around us and the rich history we live in."

Since 2018, Warminster Township has awarded the Warminster Historical Society with a proclamation after Penge approached officials with an interest in celebrating the event each year.

"Each year we celebrate it by having a different group in the display case, and inviting the societies out for a fun day of presentations, meeting the societies, and for the societies to celebrate with each other," Penge told Patch Friday.

Penge said the township's history and that of Bucks County should be celebrated all year round.

"Warminster history and community involvement mean a lot to me," he said. "We are surrounded by the beauty of Bucks County, and its rich history. Around Warminster, we have places like Ivyland, Hartsville , Warwick and Hatboro that have rich history tucked away. It’s my goal and my passion to educate those around me, and in the community, about these great places."
