EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA —It's less than a week before Halloween and if there's any time to get spooky, this would be the weekend for it.

For the last weekend in October, Eastern Pennsylvania promises to be the place for pumpkins, fall festivals, Halloween hayrides and haunts, and those spooky attractions that make us want to pull the covers over our heads. In Philly, you can run with Gritty. Or, in Doylestown, you can just grab a pumpkin and make a run for it!

Sesame Place Holding Halloween Costume Contest

Sesame Place Philadelphia is holding a Halloween costume contest on Sunday at its Middletown Township amusement park followed by a "Not-Too-Spooky Halloween Party" on Thursday. The annual Halloween costume contest features both a children’s contest and a family contest, with winners chosen based on costume creativity, execution, and audience appeal. (Read More)

Jack-O-Lanterns Light Up Delaware Canal In Yardley

For over 15 years, Canal-O-Ween has shined its spotlight on Halloween, illuminating the banks of the Delaware Canal with lit Jack-O-Lanterns. The week-long event starts Sunday with Carve-O-Thon, in which over 450 pumpkins will arrive to be carved starting at noon, said Experience Yardley, the organization running the family event. Go For The Gold With Gritty In Philadelphia

Marathons and races are always worth the time for runners no matter the time of the year. Especially if you can run with the mascot for the Philadelphia Flyers. There might be lots of Grittys in South Philadelphia on Saturday morning in a race for charity. The Gritty 5K, which benefits Flyers Charities, is back at the Wells Fargo Center with runners dressed like Gritty for a 3.1-mile loop around FDR Park. High Heel Drag Race To Hit The Ground Running

The 20th Annual High Heels Drag Race will hit the ground running on Sunday, Oct. 27 on West Mechanic Street as part of New Hope Celebrates "OUT In October." The public is invited to watch as a gang of glamorous ghouls speed to the finish line in this sinister stiletto showdown. FallFest Underway At Shady Brook Farm

Shady Brook Farm —which will soon be transforming to another season of its popular Christmas lights attraction —is focused on fall. The farm on 931 Stony Hill Rd. is holding FallFest through Oct. 30. FallFest features activities including apple picking to its pumpkin patch, a Sunflower stroll, wagon rides, a Peanuts corn maze, the Barn of Horror, and other fall fun. (Read More)
