6 Fun Things To Do In Bucks County This Weekend

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —After weekends of rain, if the forecast isn't sunny, there are always plenty of indoor activities to enjoy in Bucks County on those rainy days.
Maybe reading is what your kids love. There are two opportunities for that on Saturday.
Peddler's Village is featuring its Storytime Saturdays Series through Aug. 26 in Lahaska. It's a free half-hour event. Meanwhile, maybe your child would like to read to a shelter pet. The Women's Animal Center is offering just that at its Summer Open House on Saturday.

A shopping spree takes place Saturday featuring 20 vendors at the Union Fire Company Station 37 in Bensalem Township, not too far from the animal center if you want to hit multiple events.

Warrington Parks and Recreation has a makeup date Saturday for an ice cream event and a Family Fun Day on Sunday.
Anyone interested in wedding planning should check out the Yardley Wedding Weekend set for Sunday in the downtown district. About 20 wedding vendors will be on hand to help people plan their perfect day. Or check out a history presentation at the Gather Place in Yardley.

Storytime Saturdays At Peddler's Village In Lahaska
Each Saturday at 11 a.m., the main Village Green will host a free storytime session featuring a favorite children’s book. Together with the six majestic sculptures that celebrate beloved stories and characters such as fairy tales, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, Winnie-the-Pooh, Mother Goose stories, and Alice in Wonderland, these weekly readings are guaranteed to entertain and delight young visitors. Afterward, families can marvel at the sculptures and build their own castles in one of the Village sandboxes. Readings will run 15-25 minutes. This Saturday's book is “Stuck” by Oliver Jeffers. Read To A Shelter Pet At Women's Animal Center
Maybe you want to adopt a pet. Or maybe you'd just rather read to one. You have those options at Saturday's Summer Open House hosted by the Women's Animal Center in Bensalem Township. America's first animal shelter will offer kids activities at its free event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Read this Patch story for more details.)

Summer Shopping Spree Saturday In Bensalem
Jewelry and other items will be featured at Bensalem's Summer Shopping Spree from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Union Fire Company Station 37 at 2067 State Rd. More than 20 vendors will feature their goods. Among the vendors are Cae Designs Co. - Macarons and Gifts, Melanie Squeezed it Lemonade, Stitched by Jessie B, Ritts Design, Paparazzi Jewelry, and The Crystal Bus by Phase Artcana LLC. There's also a face painter and glitter tattoos. Music will be playing, and firetrucks will also be on display.

Warrington Family Fun Day Along With Ice Cream
The weather is finally working with the Warrington Parks and Recreation Department for the weekend. After two canceled events, the township is back with National Ice Cream Cup makeup day on Saturday (free ice cream cups to the first 100 people) and Sunday is Family Fun Day sponsored by Coo Eats (another makeup) at Mary Barness Community Pool.

Historic Presentation At The Gather Place In Yardley
Shirley Lee Corsey presents - A “First-Person” portrayal of Susanna Warder, one of the documented enslaved people of William Penn, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Founder. Gather Place Museum will present a unique opportunity to delve into the captivating history of these overlooked people at Pennsbury Manor, the Country Estate of William Penn (Est. 1683). The event starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gather Place museum on South Canal Street in Yardley.

Plan Your Perfect Day At Yardley Wedding Weekend
Yardley Borough businesses are banding together Sunday for a wedding planning event Sunday to help people plan their perfect day. This free event takes place on Main Street in the downtown district and includes about 20 wedding vendors. (Read this Patch story for more details.)
