6 Fun Things To Do In Bucks County This Weekend

Holiday tree lightings and Christmas parades highlight Bucks County events for the first weekend in December.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Happy Holidays!

With the first weekend of December here, Bucks County is basking in the glow and warmth of holiday celebrations as the last month of the year will certainly be a festive one with Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's Eve.

Everywhere you turn, there will probably be a Santa Claus sighting. And some sort of tree lighting or parade is also on some town's holiday menus this weekend.

So as you get the holiday decorations out of the closet or basement and ponder the thought of starting your holiday shopping, maybe there's some festive festivity you can check out in between gigs.

And while we all wish for a White Christmas, we can actually watch it at the Bucks County Playhouse with a production of Irving Berlin's classic.

Holiday Tree Lightings In Falls, Bristol Townships

Two Levittown communities will hold holiday tree-lighting ceremonies on Saturday with ceremonies planned in Falls Township and Bristol Township. Meanwhile, the Levittown Fire Company will also host a visit with Santa Claus on Saturday. (Read this Patch story for more details.)

"White Christmas" At Bucks County Playhouse

The Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope is full of holiday spirit with a new production of the beloved holiday musical, “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas,” which debuted on Nov. 13 and runs through Dec. 31. Based on the classic Hollywood movie musical, “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas” is a technicolor, Broadway musical extravaganza. With music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake, “White Christmas” contains some Berlin’s most popular tunes including "Blue Skies," "I Love a Piano," "How Deep is the Ocean?” ''Count Your Blessings” and the title song, “White Christmas.” (Read this Patch story for more details.)

Newtown Trumpets In Season With Weekend Events

Newtown will usher in the season with a weekend packed with events, all culminating in a big holiday parade through town on Sunday. The events kickoff with the town’s annual tree lighting on Friday, Dec. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Newtown Fire Association, 14 Liberty Street. (Read this Patch story for more details.)

Harlem Wizards Playing At Pennsbury High School

Get ready for some hoops action where plays will be made that will dazzle and delight those who come to see the Harlem Wizards take on the Pennsbury School District staff at 7 p.m. Saturday at Pennsbury High School East. There will be plenty of basketball tricks and alley-oops. Limited tickets remain for Saturday's game. The online box office closes at 4 p.m. Saturday.Click here to order tickets.

New Hope Celebrates With Tree Lighting, Holiday Parade

The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce will usher in the holiday season with the town's annual tree lighting on Sunday, Nov. 26, followed by a holiday parade on Sunday, Dec. 3. Presented by the chamber and the Logan Inn, the tree lighting ceremony begins at 5 p.m. at the Logan, 10 West Ferry Street. Live music will be followed by Santa's arrival aboard a New Hope Eagle fire truck. (Read this Patch story for more details)

Olde Fashioned Christmas Parade In Yardley Saturday

The family-friendly parade, which will include an appearance by Santa himself, will be followed by the borough's tree lighting in Buttonwood Park in Yardley. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available under the pavilion at Yardley Borough’s own Santa’s Workshop. Santa’s Workshop will be open immediately after the parade and then again on the Saturdays leading up to Christmas (Dec. 14 and 21) from 4-6 p.m. The parade begins on South Main Street at 3:30 p.m.
