Bakeries Banking On Birds For Sweet Success In Philly Region

PHILADELPHIA REGION, PA —It's time to make the donuts at Yum Yum Bake Shop's locations in Bucks and Montgomery counties —their famous Philly Cream Donuts.

With the Philadelphia Eagles playing in Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday, bakeries like Yum Yum and others are baking on the Birds to fly high with a victory and help sales soar by selling a lot of sweet treats.

Yum Yum —with locations in Warminster, Quakertown, Colmar —began stocking shelves with its Philly Cream Donuts on Friday.

"We’ll be going green starting Friday until the big day, Super Bowl Sunday," Yum Yum said in a Facebook post. "It’s still our delicious homemade vanilla cream dyed green and only available when our Birds punch their ticket to the Super Bowl."

Yum Yum started offering these Philly Special donuts in 2018 when the Eagles played the New England Patriots, continued the tradition when the Birds played the Chiefs a few years ago, and will now sell the donuts once again with the Super Bowl rematch.

At Lochel's Bakery in Hatboro, there is a feast of sweet treats with pastries, cookies and cakes all decked out in green.

The bakery is offering "Flyquon" cookies, showcasing running back Saquon Barkley, jersey cakes, cookies, cupcakes, green cream donuts, and football-shaped poundcakes, among other goodies.

H.F. Hornberger's Bakery on Galloway Road in Bensalem has a "sea of cookies: in all shapes and sizes for the Super Bowl. lots of Eagles cookies. There are also Eagles helmets and cupcakes with the face of a bird on them.

Weinrich's Bakery in Willow Grove has all kinds of items that will make any Super Bowl party memorable.

Its spread features cookies with the Super Bowl LIX logo on them, chocolate football cakes with green trimmings, Go Birds cakes, and other baked goods.

Owowcow is offering handheld ice cream footballs at its locations in Wrightstown, Doylestown, Chalfont, Ottsville, Easton, and Lambertville.

The footballs are made with sweet honey ice cream with a Warwick Farm Brewing Brown Ale fudge core and a soft pretzel dough base, enrobbed in dark chocolate with white chocolate laces.

Ice Cream Footballs are available for pre-order through Feb. 2 and will be available for pickup starting on Friday, Feb. 7. Order are being taken in-store or at owowcow.com/shop!
