WARMINSTER, PA —The township's Blighted Property Review Committee is now accepting proposals and quotes after just naming members to the board a few weeks ago.

Township Manager Tom Scott said that the township is seeking state board-certified real estate appraisal firms in the Philadelphia area to submit quotes.

Warminster Township is developing a blight remediation process for single-family residential properties in conjunction with the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority.

Township Supervisors Katherine Frescatore and Janice Charlton are co-chairing the committee. They were named to the committee at a supervisors' meeting earlier this month.

Scott said the goal of the process is to remove "abandoned, neglected, and unsanitary properties" from township neighborhoods under the state's urban development statute.

Long-time resident Jane Taylor is also on the committee. A planning board member is expected to be named to the committee at its April supervisors' meeting.

Supervisor Judy Hoover had said at the last meeting that the township has experienced a safety issue with blight where squatters sit in homes and have even parked vehicles on lawns.

Charlton told Patch that she has compiled a list of 11 blighted properties so far.
