WARMINSTER, PA —The Centennial School District is monitoring bomb threats that have been made anonymously across the state recently.

In an email to families, Schools Superintendent Dana Bedden said the district has been monitoring the threats which police say are targeting schools, Jewish centers, airports, and other locations though none of the threats have been found to be credible at this time.

"Over the past week, CSD has been monitoring some unfortunate incidents occurring in other states and the western part of Pennsylvania, Bedden said.

He said that on Thursday the district's IT department and other administrators received notification that several surrounding school districts in Bucks and Montgomery counties had received an email claiming there are bombs in their buildings.

Bedden said the same email was sent to other schools throughout the state and country and has been determined to be a non-credible threat by the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center (PaCIC).

The Centennial School District, to date, has not received any communication of a threat, Bedden said.

"Please know the safety of our students is of utmost importance," the superintendent said.

He said if the district does receive any threats, it will follow safety and security procedures and immediately report the situation to the police, who will investigate the matter even though the email is thought to be a swatting tactic.

Swatting is the false reporting of an emergency to public safety by a person with the intent of getting a (“SWAT team”) response to a location where no emergency exists.

"Your children are in a safe environment and school will not be dismissed unless deemed necessary for the safety and security of our students and staff," Bedden said. "I want you to feel confident that we will do everything possible to maintain a safe and secure environment. Keeping the lines of communication open allows us to work together to make our schools as safe as possible and to keep our families informed."
