Bucks Co. Student Guest At Biden's 'State Of The Union' Address
The Neshaminy School District 6th grader, a cancer survivor, was invited by U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for raising cancer awareness.

LANGHORNE, PA —Sara Harvey is going on a special trip Tuesday for leading a special cause.
The Bucks County sixth-grader was invited by U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick to join him in Washington, D.C., to watch President Joseph Biden's State of the Union Address Tuesday night.
Each representative is allowed to bring one guest into the House Chamber with them for the speech, and the Poquessing Middle School pupil in the Neshaminy School District was the congressman's choice this year.

Harvey, a cancer survivor, has been instrumental in raising cancer awareness by organizing the districtwide Neshaminy Goes Gold / Sara's Fight for the Kids campaign in September.
Harvey was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma and had her eye surgically removed. She collaborated with the school district to raise nearly $4,000 for the Four Diamonds, a foundation that supports cancer research and assists pediatric cancer patients at Penn State Children's Hospital.

She also helped start the MiniTHON for the district's three middle schools. The MiniTHON will be held on March 17.
“Sara Harvey is a warrior who not only beat cancer but works tirelessly to raise money for research and treatment,” Congressman Fitzpatrick said. “This deadly disease affects thousands of American families, including my own, and we must continue to raise awareness and work toward finding a cure. I’m proud of Sara’s work to raise money for cancer research, and I’m honored to have her join me at the State of the Union address.”
In September 2021, Harvey asked the Neshaminy School Board and district administration to consider recognizing Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. They agreed, and Harvey said some of her friends met with the schools superintendent to come up with ideas for activities to mark the month in 2022.
Harvey discussed raising awareness at a school board meeting. See video here.
