'Cousin Eddie' Appearing At Bucks Co. Store

WARMINSTER, PA —It's an annual holiday staple, a movie revered every year with its star Chevy Chase leading the characters in the classic National Lampoon's "Christmas Vacation" movie.

But one of the most beloved characters in the movie is "Cousin Eddie."

Actor Randy Quaid —who appeared in the "Vacation" movies —will make an appearance at Ashley Furniture from Noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at its store at 908 W. Street Rd.

Attendees will have the chance to win prizes and take pictures with the actor as well. "Cousin Eddie's" iconic RV is also expected to be there along with Q102's Buster.

Quaid —the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid —has had a long career in Hollywood going back to the early 1970s with his first appearance in "The Last Picture Show."

He was nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for "The Last Detail" in 1973.

Quaid won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his portrayal of U.S. President Lyndon Johnson in "LBJ: The Early Years." He also received Emmy nominations for his roles in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "Elvis."

But Quaid is best known for his roles as "Cousin Eddie" and as Vietnam War veteran Russell Casse in "Independence Day."

In 1983, Quaid portrayed Cousin Eddie in National Lampoon's Vacation. Quaid appeared in four of the seven films in the National Lampoon's Vacation film series as the jovial redneck cousin.
