Eagles Super Bowl Loss Really Hurts: Philly Sports Chatter
The Philadelphia Eagles let the game slip away in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. Most of us feel miserable Monday.

WARMINSTER, PA —Every Philadelphia Eagles fan is hurting this morning.
This Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the final seconds Sunday night will hurt for some time. These Eagles had a memorable season. And Quarterback Jalen Hurts had a memorable year and a memorable Super Bowl LVII.
But the Chiefs have Andy Reid, a future Hall of Fame coach, and Patrick Mahomes, the league's MVP who showed Sunday why he's the next Tom Brady.

Everything looked so promising at halftime as Rihanna was about to hit the stage.
The Birds led 24-14 and Mahomes had suffered what appeared to be an injury to his ankle once again that had him seething in pain on the sidelines.

But halftime shows are long, and the work done on his ankle worked because Mahomes took over the second half, driving the Chiefs to several touchdowns against an Eagles defense that didn't or couldn't bring the heat.
And the Eagles couldn't get to Mahomes and couldn't hold off the Chiefs' attack. Meanwhile, the offense was stymied in the second half, mustering up a measly field goal while the Chiefs put three touchdowns on the board.
The Birds managed to tie the score, but Mahomes —just like Brady —had enough time left on the clock, especially with the longest punt return in Super Bowl history, to get the winning field goal and seal a 38-35 Super Bowl victory.
The Eagles had this game. But they hurt themselves.
Hurts, despite setting Super Bowl records for rushing touchdowns, fumbled away the football in the first half. Kansas City took the ball into the end zone and stole the momentum away from the Eagles. The Birds never really recovered.
You can't blame the referees for overruling a Devonte Smith catch or a late holding call that gave the Chiefs the winning field goal.
This game was on the Eagles. And this loss hurts.
You feel for Hurts and Coach Nick Sirianni. But no one really expected the Eagles to reach the Super Bowl this year. Quarterback and coach, though, grew by leaps and bounds and sometimes losses like these leave a chip on your shoulder, a chip the Birds can hopefully cash in.
It's hard to get back to the Super Bowl.
Some teams never recover from losses and implode the following season. Look at the Atlanta Falcons after they blew that Super Bowl lead to Brady and the New England Patriots. They haven't been the same since.
Monday will be a tough day to get through. We're hurt, upset, and mentally drained.
Basically, all Eagles fans across the Delaware Valley are miserable.
The Eagles let this game slip through their fingers. This Super Bowl loss will hurt for a while. We will lick our wounds and we will heal. And fans will hope that the team will get back there next year.
