Buck, the county's coroner for the past three years, conceded the primary election in an interview with Patch Wednesday.

"I know I work extremely hard as coroner," Buck said. "It has been a complete honor to have served the people of Bucks County. I'm proud of many of the accomplishments I've made. I'm hoping the good work will be continued by the next coroner. I'm leaving the office in a much better place than I found it. Congrats to Miss Campi. I wish her all the best."

Campi, 60, a Warwick resident, is an oncology nurse and president and office manager of E.P. Donnelly, Inc.

Campi stated in her Patch election profile that the top issues facing her position are the ongoing opioid crisis, mental health, and general public health awareness.

"Bucks United was proud to support Patti Campi to serve as the Democratic Nominee for Coroner and we look forward to entering the general with not only a unified team but also the most qualified ticket in Bucks County history," said Keely Ann Sinni, deputy campaign manager.

Buck touted her record regarding sharing data from the coroner's office, guiding the county through the COVID pandemic, and launching a program for the proper burial of the county's unclaimed decedents.

In May 2011, Buck sued the county commissioners, alleging in an amended lawsuit that they knowingly slashed her annual budget by more than $1 million and did so secretly, which would be a violation of the state’s Sunshine Law.

In the lawsuit, Buck's attorney maintained that there was never any public discussion by commissioners that they were planning on cutting her budget by more than 66 percent, the lawsuit alleges. The suit, which county officials have dismissed as "meritless" and "filled with frivolous claims," also alleges that commissioners acted unlawfully in preparing and advertising notice of the proposed budget when it is “knowingly inaccurate.”
