Lidl Grocery In Warminster Requests Zoning Help

Approved in 2016, the German grocery store chain's plans have changed and they're asking for variances based on the existing building.

WARMINSTER, PA — German-based grocery chain Lidl is requesting several different zoning variances for a planned store in Warminster.

The Intelligencer reports that Lidl needs approval from Warminster's zoning board before it can move forward with plans to redevelop the former Pathmark building at 700 York Rd. in Warminster. According to its current plans, Lidl would build a 29,136-square foot grocery and a roughly 6,000-square-foot restaurant on the site, the paper reports.

The zoning hearing board meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Last occupied in 2006, the current Pathmark building is 45,770 square feet, which is too big under current zoning regulations.

The Lidl project was originally approved in 2016. Since then, the company has presented two redevelopment plans to Warminster's board of supervisors. The original plan called for turning about half the property's existing space into greenspace.
