Man Drove 97 MPH On Motorcycle Before Warminster Crash: Court Records

A Warminster man faces several felony charges after crashing and fleeing the scene while his passenger was injured, police said.

WARMINSTER, PA —A 30-year-old township man faces felony charges for fleeing the scene after crashing his motorcycle and seriously injuring his female passenger, court records state.

Warminster Township Police said Joseph “Sonny” Edward Hudicek was traveling at 97 mph with a DUI-suspended license when the accident occurred on April 14, according to the criminal complaint provided to Patch by clerks for District Justice Chris O'Neill.

He is being charged with aggravated assault by vehicle, accidents involving death/injury, recklessly endangering another person, accidents involving property damage, reckless driving, driving at an unsafe speed, and other offenses.

Police responded to a motorcycle accident on York Road north of Norristown Road and found a woman with injuries including several broken bones and abrasions.

Rachael Furey was taken to Jefferson-Abington Hospital and treated for her injuries, the complaint said.

A 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle was near a curb in the southbound lanes of York Road, near Lavera Road with "heavy front-end damage," the complaint states.

Police used drones to try and find Hudicek but were unable to locate him. He was found at Jefferson-Abington Hospital being treated for injuries from the accident, the complaint said.

A group was "hanging out" at Artifact Brewery in Hatboro before heading out on motorcycles, the complaint said.

Officers spoke with witnesses who saw eight motorcycles and a black Ford Mustang traveling North on York Road, speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before the accident.

One man told police he saw several motorcycles and the Mustang behind him revving their engines at a red light. When the light turned green, the witness said, the motorcycles passed him on the shoulder, and between cars, and in the turn lane, the complaint states.

As the man continued driving he saw a Harley Davidson with a woman passenger riding on the back. The woman was not wearing a helmet, and she appeared to be taking selfies with her cellphone, the complaint states.
