'Neglected' Roads To Be Paved In Warminster Township
Warminster Township plans to pave seven miles of road this year. Some roads haven't been paved in years, officials said.
WARMINSTER, PA —The township will be paving some roads this year that haven't seen new asphalt since 1993.
At its meeting earlier this month, Township Supervisors heard a presentation on its 2023 Road Program. In total, the township plans to cover 7 miles of roads this year.
The township is trying to catch up to work that hasn't been done in several years and even a few decades.

Among the work is to complete paving ADA ramps and curbs that were on the township's list since 2021 and 2022.
The work was expected to go out to bid Tuesday with the bid being awarded in March and paving starting in early April, township officials said.

Township officials said that some roads are in "pretty bad condition."
They mentioned Newtown Road, which hasn't been paved since 2004. Parts of other roads haven't been paved since 1991 and some streets, like west of York Road, haven't since 1993.
Last year, 125 ramps were paved. This year's schedule calls for 54 ramps.
Township Supervisor Janice Charlton asked why all the ramps weren't paved at once.
Project supervisors explained that the work was spread out over three years.
"It makes no sense to me why we aren't doing the work at once instead of revisiting," Charlton said. "We need to go back and tear up property and then weed and seed again. That's not fair to our residents. It doesn't make good business sense."
"Do you want to add another $1 million?" Township Supervisor Kenneth Hayes responded. "We're trying to get to roads that were neglected and in disrepair. That's the purpose."
Hayes said that the township should be updated on all its roads going forward into 2024.
