NOVA Announces Winners of Internet Safety Poster Contest

Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) is pleased to announce the winners of their Internet Safety Poster Contest:

Kindergarten – 3rd Grade Category: Zabien Richards, 1st grader, Sellersville Elementary School, won a $50.00 art supply basket. He drew a Lego person to emphasize Internet safety messages.

4th - 7th Grade Category: Anna Ceschan, 5th grader, Sellersville Elementary School won a $50.00 Target gift card. Ceschan used a combination of puns and a shark theme to remind people about Internet safety practices.

8th - 12th Grade Category: Noemi Nieves-Hoblin, 12th grader, at Central Bucks High School West won a $50.00 Apple iTunes gift card. She used images including an old-fashioned airmail envelope and a menacing figure to spread the message of Internet safety.

Internet safety is especially important now that both children and adults are spending more time online as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak. Also, increased Internet use escalates the risk that predators will reach out to children. The poster contest was an opportunity to

remind everyone about Internet safety rules, encourage safe decision making and to give students an opportunity to share their creativity for the betterment of others.

NOVA asked students throughout Bucks County to submit posters that incorporated Internet safety rules into their design including concepts such as:

• Personal information is private
• Keep privacy settings on
• Practice safe browsing
• Be careful what you download
• Choose strong passwords
• Post with caution
• Avoid the Clickbait trap

“NOVA received many excellent submissions from talented and creative students from all over Bucks County. It was challenging to pick a winner in each category,” said Pattie Cavalle, NOVA's Education/Awareness Prevention Coordinator. “We thank everyone who participated and congratulate the winners.”
