Perkins Closes After 40 Years In Warminster
The longtime business on York Road closed Tuesday after serving breakfast. Employees were told before lunch that the business was sold.

WARMINSTER, PA —One day it was an eatery. The next day, it's a part of township history.
Perkins Restaurant and Bakery at 705 York Rd. shut its doors for good Tuesday after the breakfast crowd had been served. Those posting on the Warminster Community Group Facebook page said that employees were told before lunch that the business was sold and was closing.
A sign on the door stated that the township mainstay —which first opened in 1983 —was "permanently closed" and directed customers to the Perkins at 1681 Grant Ave. in Philadelphia, which is operated by the same Warminster Perkins owners.

There's also a Perkins in Doylestown.
"Perkins provided 40 years of service to the Warminster Community," said Matthew Penge, president of the Warminster Historical Society." It was a place where friends and family would go for a good meal or to catch up with one another over coffee."

Penge visited the location after it closed on Tuesday. He said he was returning to the site on Wednesday to get a menu that the historical society could display and preserve Perkins' place in township history.
"It’s sad to see long-lasting places like this disappearing from our community, and the changes it creates," Penge said.
Residents said they were stunned by the closure. One commented on Facebook that they ate breakfast at Perkins Tuesday morning and it was business as usual.
