BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Bucks County is flipping back to the Republican Party —at least as of this week —marking a "red" change in a key county of a major battleground state in the November general election.

In a 2024 election campaign that has seen an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump and President Joseph Biden dropping out of the race, registered voters now favor Republicans, according to voter registration data from the Bucks County Board of Elections.

Republicans now have 277 more registered voters than Democrats, the voter count shows.

In the registered voter count of 478,034 county residents as of July 22, Republicans have 198,034 registered voters, just edging Democrats who have 197,757 voters. Other parties have 82,243 registered voters.

The margin for total registrations between the two parties remains slim. With Pennsylvania a swing state in the election, the numbers could swing back to "blue" with Vice President Kamala Harris on top of the ticket when the next results are reported.

The data was posted on the Bucks County Republican Committee's Facebook page on Monday.

Of the registered voters, for the Republicans, 87,271 are men, 79,500 are women and 31,263 are unknown. For Democrats, 64,917 are men, 97,055 are women, and 35,785 are unknown. Other parties include 32,142 men, 27,252 women, and 22,839 are unknown.

In April's primary, registered Democrats outnumbered Republicans by more than 15,000 voters.

More than 33,000 new voters have registered in Bucks County since then, with Republicans gaining over 17,000 and Democrats losing about 100.

Bucks County has 304 voting districts.

The Bucks County Republican Committee said it has added a couple thousand new registrations since February.

The flip for Republicans is quite a turnaround from how Bucks County residents voted in the 2020 presidential election.

Trump, the then-Republican incumbent, lost the state in 2020, winning 27 of the county's 54 municipalities. Biden beat Trump by more than 16,000 votes in Bucks County.

Eight municipalities in Bucks County flipped from red to blue in the most recent election. Just one — Dublin Borough — went from blue to red, uncertified results show.

While registered voters may now favor Republicans, Bucks County has voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in every election after the Bush - Dukakis election in 1988.
