Student-Built House Becomes Bucks Home

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology students built a two-story home that was disassembled and moved to an undisclosed location Tuesday.

JAMISON, PA —The house that students of the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology built is now a home.

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology students had worked on building a house that was just relocated permanently to an undisclosed location in Bucks County. The home was disassembled and loaded by crane onto four flatbed trucks, then transported to the buyer’s location on Tuesday.

“We are extremely proud of our students and the quality home they have built," said Jeanise Dimitri, the school's coordinator of communications and technology.

The two-story, four bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home is 2,688 square feet and includes a kitchen, dining room, living room and laundry room.

The house was built primarily by students in the construction carpentry program. The electrical and plumbing was installed by students in the electrical technology and plumbing and heating programs.

The house was built to the highest residential construction standards including 6-inch exterior walls, Anderson high-performance windows and 200 amp electrical service.

"The student-built house project aligns with our mission statement by providing a real-world experience to these students that will prepare them for both higher education and the workforce,” Dimitri said.

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) is located in Warwick Township on York Road
(Rt. 263) in Jamison. It is supported by the Centennial, Central Bucks, Council Rock, and New Hope-Solebury school districts.
