Projected Winner Declared For PA Attorney General Race
The York County District Attorney rode the red wave to defeat Democrat Eugene DePasquale, according to unofficial election results.

PENNSYLVANIA —Republican Dave Sunday rode the red wave as the state's next Attorney General, according to unofficial results. The Associated Press called the race for Sunday on Wednesday morning.
Sunday, York County's district attorney, received 51.13 percent of the votes for the Commonwealth's chief law enforcement officer while Democrat Eugene DePasquale garnered 45.89 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's general election.
Sunday received 3,359,649 votes while DePasquale received 3,015,395 votes.

He will succeed Democratic Attorney General Michelle Henry, who was selected by Gov. Josh Shapiro when he assumed office in 2022 to finish his second term.
Henry chose not to run for the office in the general election.

The race focused on drugs and guns as the two candidates debated on how to reduce gun violence, stop the spread of dangerous drugs, and the growing issue of artificial intelligence.
Both candidates pledged to serve two terms if elected and not seek higher office. Two of the last three Pennsylvania governors elected had previously served as Attorney General.
Sunday emphasized his 15 years as a prosecutor in York County, a Republican-majority area with about 460,000 residents south of Harrisburg.
During the debate, DePasquale focused on his experience leading the state Auditor General’s office where he led investigations.
The Attorney General's duties include prosecuting organized crime and public corruption, collecting debts, taxes, and accounts due to the state, and representing Pennsylvania and its agencies in court, according to Ballotpedia.
