WARMINSTER, PA —Drake Motors Partners are expected back before supervisors Thursday night to resume talks about bringing a Tesla dealership to the township.

Township supervisors will continue a conditional use and land development application hearing with Drake Motors representatives to convert the old Pathmark property on 700 York Road into a Tesla dealership and service center.

After appearing before supervisors to outline plans in late January, supervisors tabled the hearing last month but did not provide a reason for the decision.

The supervisors' meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Warminster Municipal Building.

The Tesla dealership and repair garage service center could add 30-40 local jobs, Drake Motors representatives said.

In its two-hour land use public hearing before supervisors in January, Drake Motors representatives outlined how the car company known for its electric vehicles would give the "dilapidated" Pathmark property a "sleek, modern and fresh look."

Drake owner John Houser had said previously that the project would cost between $6-8 million with hopes that construction could start this spring with completion before year's end. He said a contractor is already in place.

The 56,000-square-foot building sits on 9 acres.

Tesla, the car company led by CEO Elon Musk, models itself on clean energy and designs and manufactures electric vehicles, battery energy storage from home to grid-scale, solar panels, and solar roof tiles.

The property, across the street from Archbishop Wood High School and near Street Road, had been considered by Lidl for another grocery store.
