UPDATE: Late Saturday night

PHILADELPHIA, PA —So here we are playing in the World Series and heading home Monday tied at 1-1 against the Houston Astros.

Ok, so we came back to earth Saturday night. The magic was gone when Kyle Schwarber’s home run was reversed. It was a foul ball. Zack Wheeler didn’t look like his usual dominant self and got smoked in the first inning. You can’t come back every game.

What a game that first one was.

Watching that dramatic comeback, down 5-0, to win 6-5 and hand the Astros their first loss in these playoffs was pretty amazing.

Clutch home run by JT Realmuto and the game-saving catch by Nick Castellanos just shows that this team has that feeling that no one can beat them.

And David Robertson made the last inning interesting to seal the deal.

So now we go home, where the Phillies are undefeated throughout the playoffs.

I'll be going to my first World Series game ever when the Phillies return home Monday, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But so was going to the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl parade five years ago.

I really remember the 1980 World Series more than anything.

The Phillies started a rookie pitcher named Bob Walk and Michael Jack Schmidt was the Series MVP. I so remember Tug McGraw struck out Willie Wilson to beat the Kansas City Royals. That championship is burned in my brain forever.

The 1993 World Series was a heartbreaker to lose to that famous Joe Carter home run against the Toronto Blue Jays. The killer was an earlier slugfest that went back and forth with the Phillies losing a high-scoring affair.

Second baseman Mickey Morandini, whom I interviewed earlier this week, remembers that 1993 team fondly as gritty and tough.

The 2009 series was a tough one to lose too.

The Phillies fell to the New York Yankees. What was impressive is that the team got back to the World Series after winning it the year before. Very few teams do that these days.

I started wearing my 2008 World Series champions hat this week now that the Phillies are playing in it again. I hope it brings us luck and I also will be wearing it at Citizens Bank Park Monday. I hope to add to my collection very shortly.

This team has had an amazing playoff run. No one expected them to even advance in the Wild Card round to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals. But we did so.

And then beat the Atlanta Braves. I knew if we did we would punch our ticket to the World Series, provided that the Los Angeles Dodgers lost, which they did to the San Diego Padres.

But this team had that magic and momentum. This team is peaking at the right time and has the right formula of chemistry and energy.

We're three wins away now. This can be done. We can be World Champions once again.
