19-Year-Old Arrested In Chester Co. Elder Abuse Caught On Video

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A 19-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the elder abuse video that circulated on social media in July.

The victim was identified by police in Newport, Delaware as a resident of East Goshen Township, and the incident itself occurred at a local senior care center.

Shyaire Selon Romeo, 19, has been charged with simple assault and harassment in connection with the incident.

The video shows Romeo, who was working as a health care provider at the facility, yelling at the elderly victim, before proceeding to throw items at her.

Police said the victim was made safe over the past two weeks while the investigation continued. Romeo was arrested on Wednesday. She is no longer employed at the facility.

A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
