2 Pipe Bombs Found Within Half A Mile In Chester Co.; 1 Explodes
Pipe bombs have been found in the same area of Chester County two days in a row, according to police. One of them exploded.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Two pipe bombs were found in the same part of Caln Township within 24 hours of one another, police confirmed on Wednesday. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
The first incident, which was not known by police until residents reported it on Wednesday, occurred at around 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20.
The device exploded near a railroad underpass at S. Caln Road and Olive Street at around 3 p.m.

A day later, at 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 21, a postal worker found what was later determined to be an undetonated pipe bomb at the corner of 14th Avenue and Olive Street.
That's just half a mile from Monday's explosion. Both devices appear to be similar in size and construction, and both are believed to be homemade, police said.

Police officers and fire police established a containment zone, and an off-duty FBI bomb technician assisted in securing the scene, authorities said. The Montgomery County Bomb Squad was called and help secure the area and the device.
Residents reported the explosion Monday after hearing of the device found Tuesday.
If you see a suspicious device, do not attempt to handle it, maintain a safe distance, and call 911 immediately.
