3-Year-Old Boy Rescued From Manure Pit In Chester County
The tricky rescue operation took hours as firefighters became stuck in the manure as they tried to rescue the boy.

HONEY BROOK, PA — A three-year-old boy was rescued after he fell in a manure pit in Chester County recently.
The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on a farm in Honey Brook, authorities said.
The pit, about ten feet deep, was located inside a barn on the farm.

Fire crews that first arrived on the scene attempted to rescue the boy, but got themselves stuck in the manure as they tried to get him out.
Ultimately, authorities dispatched two rescuers with dry suits and rope harnesses, with two more rescuers geared up as backups. Plywood also had to be laid on the manure to assist the rescuers.

Authorities said the boy was "awake and crying" when they were finally able to get him out.
It took crews on scene some time to denominate the boy and the rescuers, who spent considerable time in the manure.
Numerous crews assisted the Chester County Rescue Task Force on the scene, including Rescue 25 (Longwood), Ladder 25, Rescue 45 (Downingtown), Rescue 47 (Lionville), Rescue 53 (Fame-West Chester), and HAZMAT 15 (Chester County HAZMAT), authorities said. In addition, crews from West Whiteland and Wagontown assisted on the scene.
