Brandywine Museum presents lecture on artist's use of human form in miniature on April 1,2016

Artists and the Artist’s Mannequin; from Edgar Degas to Jamie Wyeth

Friday, April 1, 2016: 6:00 pm

Elliot Bostwick Davis, curator of last year’s immensely popular Jamie Wyeth retrospective exhibition and John Moors Cabot Chair, Art of the Americas at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, will present new research that explores a range of European and American studio practices involving the human form in miniature, including the work of Edgar Degas, Gustave Moreau, Winslow Homer, and more recently, contemporary artists working in this mode, including the two Tableaux Vivant created by Jamie Wyeth in 2013.
