Chesco Lawyer Arrested Fifth Time; Defrauded Mother-In-Law: DA

The charges keep piling up for a Chester County attorney, who also defrauded his mother-in-law of $5,000, officials said.

WEST CHESTER, PA — The charges keep piling up for a Chester County attorney who has now been arrested five different times on charges related to defrauding his clients and various family members.

The latest victim discovered of Joshua Janis, 38, was his mother-in-law, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Janis opened up numerous accounts in her name, and incurred debts in her name as well, totalling about $5,000, officials said.

The fraud was discovered by Janis' ex-wife, who was also victimized by Janis. Janis used his ex-wife's name to open accounts to pay for strip clubs, porn, and other personal expenses.

Authorities have now uncovered more than $100,000 in fraud they believe was perpetrated by Janis.

Janis was released on $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing for the new charges of theft and related counts is set for Feb. 15.
