Chesco Man Tried To Light Ex-Girlfriend's Cat On Fire: Report

The man reportedly doused the cat with gasoline and had a match at the ready when the cat fought free free.

COATESVILLE, PA — A Chester County man doused his ex-girlfriend's cat with gasoline and tried to light the cat on fire, according to court documents and a report.

James Marsh, 25, of Coatesville, faces animal cruelty and domestic disturbance charges in connection with the incident, according to documents.

The Pottstown Mercury reports the incident occurred on Monday night at his ex's house on the 400 block of Maple Avenue.

Marsh went inside the house of his ex-girlfriend, a 23-year-old woman, and came out with the cat, which they had bought together when they dated, the report states.

Marsh then poured gasoline over the cat and was about to light the cat on fire when the cat escaped. Marsh then pursued the cat and threw the cat against a wall before fleeing the scene.

Police reportedly said the cat did not suffer permanent injuries from the incident.

Marsh was arrested shortly thereafter.
