QVC-West Chester Heart Walk Raises Funds, Awareness of Cardiovascular Disease

QVC-West Chester Heart Walk raises nearly $100,000 for better heart health

West Chester, PA – October 23, 2015 – The QVC-West Chester Heart Walk just raised nearly $100,000 for better heart health. More than 100 QVC associates were among the approximately 900 participants who walked October 10 at West Goshen Park, benefiting the American Heart Association, one of QVC’s featured charities. The focus of this year’s Heart Walk was to create hope, inspire change and celebrate successes. Cardiovascular diseases — including stroke — are the leading cause of death in the U.S. By collecting contributions, walkers in the event helped ensure funding for research to find cures.

At the event, Amy Canfield, an employee at Penn Medicine in Chester County, was announced as the winner of this year’s Lifestyle Change Award, which recognizes those who have made positive changes to improve their quality of life and health. Since having weight loss surgery in April 2014, along with incorporating a healthier diet and more physical activity, Amy has lost 115 lbs., now runs, walks and swims as part of her regular exercise routine and follows a high protein, low carbohydrate diet.

Heart Walk attendees had access to health screenings from Penn Medicine and free food and water, and enjoyed an exercise demonstration, games and activity area for kids and families, a pet zone providing dog treats and water bowls, and several sponsor and vendor booths.

“QVC is proud to sponsor the Heart Walk, and we appreciate all of our team members and Chester County neighbors who came out to support the American Heart Association in raising money and awareness to help fight cardiovascular disease and stroke,” says Beth Rubino, Executive Vice President Human Resources at QVC.
