Chesterbrook Academy Donates Produce to Chester County Food Bank
Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School students donated lettuce and scallions that they harvested from their school's garden
Students at Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School in West Chester recently donated produce to Chester County Food Bank. Over the past few weeks, students grew lettuce and scallions in the school’s garden. Once the food was fully grown, students harvested and washed the produce to prepare it for delivery to the organization. Students will continue to donate produce as additional vegetables are ready for harvesting. Chesterbrook Academy has an ongoing partnership with Chester County Food Bank and makes numerous donations throughout the year. Through this initiative, students learned the importance of helping community members in need.
Chester County Food Bank is the central hunger relief organization serving more than 120 partner agencies in Chester County. Through its network of food cupboards, hot meal sites, shelters and other social service organizations, the food bank has distributed more than three million pounds of food to neighbors with limited or uncertain access to adequate meals.
