Exton Region Chamber of Commerce features Gary Lowenthal, creator of Boyds Bears as Annual Dinner Keynote Speaker!

Join the ERCC as they honor 3 Annual Awards and are inspired by Gary Lowenthal, creator of Boyds Bears.

The Exton Region Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the winners of their 2016 Annual Dinner Awards. Recipients of the awards will be recognized for their positive impact on the region and their dedication to fostering a climate of economic prosperity and diversity.

Sponsored by DNB First, the Annual Dinner will take place on September 27th at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Malvern, PA starting at 5:00 PM. Be inspired by keynote speaker, Gary Lowenthal, founder of the Boyds Collection, LTD, and author of Ten Secrets of the Secret Society of Entrepreneurs. State Representative Becky Corbin of the 155th legislative district, will be receiving the Senator Robert J. Thompson Public Service Award which yearly recognizes a public official who has made an outstanding contribution to the Exton Region. Kevin Mengel, who nominated Becky for the award said, “Since Becky’s start in public service, she has always been an active part and supporter of the Exton Region Chamber as well as improving the climate for all businesses in PA. She is a proud supporter of veterans and has recently introduced a bill to strengthen our laws against domestic violence.”

The Harold Martin Business Leadership Award, named after “Mr. Exton” for his commitment to the region and its people, will be awarded this year to Kevin Mengel of FastSigns in Exton. Kevin had previously served as chairperson of the board of the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce and has continued his efforts to make the region one where small and large businesses can continue to flourish.

Finally, the Small Business Person of the Year Award will be given to Fran Shaw and Tom Skelly of Miller’s Insurance Agency, Inc. for their contribution to the economy and vitality of the region. Fran Shaw currently serves as President of Miller’s Insurance Agency and was one of the pioneering employees who started with the company in 1979. In 2011, Fran and her partner, Tom, purchased the agency. She now manages all aspects of customer service and claims for Miller’s and uses her industry knowledge to ensure that all of their customers receive exception customer care.

Tom Skelly began as an agent for Miller’s Insurance and won Salesman of the Year 5 years consecutively. After purchasing the company in 2011, Tom was integral to helping the company grow from $2.5 million to $5 million in annual revenue and expand their employees from 20 to 45 individuals.

Exton Region Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to advance the economic success of their members and the community by providing opportunities for businesses to build relationships, market their business, share industry knowledge and provide community outreach.
