Fake Chester Co. Sheriff's Deputy Threatening Residents
Authorities said a man pretending to be a Chester County Sheriff's Deputy is threatening residents with arrest.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A new scam is on the rise. Authorities in Chester County said a man pretending to be a Sheriff's Deputy is threatening residents with arrest.
The caller claims that you owe the department for various crimes, and must pay or face arrest.
He identifies himself as "Lt. John Lewis," authorities said, a "totally ficticious" name.

"This scam artist even identified himself to one citizen as a 'unit commander,'" the Sheriff's Department said. "The only thing he's in command of is attempted thievery. If you receive such a call, feel free to hang up."
