On Fox News, West Chester University Student Defends Donald Trump Vote
"It was a little bit intimidating going into class knowing that I am Republican and that I voted Republican," said one West Chester student.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- A West Chester University student was on Fox News over the weekend defending her decision to vote for Donald Trump and liberal biases on college campuses.
Cassie Hewlett drew the attention of Fox News' "Risk and Reward" host Liz McDonald for a blog post attacking common misconceptions over Trump voters.
"I am not racist," she wrote in the post, published the day after the election. "I am not homophobic. I am not sexist. I am not a misogynist. I am for free market. I am for stronger foreign policy. I am for small business. I am for my family. I am Republican."

McDonald questioned Hewlett on her post and on how she felt expressing that opinion in a university atmosphere.
"You said the professors, the day after Trump won, acted like it was a funeral," McDonald said. "Do you feel like you're getting a good education? It sounds like it's pretty biased."

"I wouldn't say that it's biased," Hewlett said. "(But) it was a little bit intimidating going into class knowing that I am Republican and that I voted Republican. My professors kind of prefaced class with the assumption that everyone in class did not vote for Trump."
Republican intimidation is not a term that has been frequently bandied about, as incidents of racial intimidation and hate crimes have been reported nationwide since the election, including at nearby Villanova University and the University of Pennsylvania.
On Tuesday, West Chester Henderson High School students staged an anti-Donald Trump walk out and rally outside of the school. Similar walk-outs have been reported across the country. In Philadelphia, there were several days of anti-Trump rallies in Center City.
West Chester University's Master of Social Work Program has created a "safe space" on campus for students distressed over the election results and who may want to talk. It's located on the 2nd floor conference room in Reynolds Hall and is open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
