Free Clinic Association of Pennsylvania Receives $30,000 Grant from the CVS Health Foundation

Grant Awarded to Improve Access and Affordability in West Chester

The CVS Health Foundation has announced that West Chester's Free Clinic Association of Pennsylvania (FCAP) has received a $30,000 grant, in partnership with the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics. The grant has been awarded as part of the CVS Health Foundation’s multi-year, $5 million commitment to address the need for more accessible, coordinated health care in local communities.

The grant from the CVS Health Foundation will support FCAP’s Motivational Interviewing program to provide free training to the staff and volunteers at local free and charitable clinics to better engage with and motivate patients living with chronic diseases. The goal is to enable staff and volunteers at these clinics to help patients adopt and maintain healthy behaviors to positively impact their overall health. The Motivational Interviewing program is a part of FCAP’s War on Health initiative to equip free and charitable clinics across the state of Pennsylvania with innovative strategies and community partnerships to combat multiple chronic conditions in local communities.

“We are committed to helping people on their path to better health and building healthier communities,” said Eileen Howard Boone, president of the CVS Health Foundation. “Through our ongoing partnership with the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics, we’ve been able to address the critical need for increasing access to care, improving care coordination and managing chronic conditions.”
