High School Senior Organizes Soup Supper to Benefit the West Chester Food Cupboard
The Bowls for Hope Soup Supper will be held April 21 at The Kitchen Studio at Pine Street.
While many high school seniors may already be looking ahead to prom season, graduation parties, and senior week, Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School (PALCS) student Francesca Flamminio has other things on her mind. Hunger.
“It’s an issue not just in big cities or third world countries,” says Flamminio. “It’s a problem right here in our own backyards.”
And it’s a problem the young Drexel Hill resident is committed to doing something about.

Flamminio attends PALCS’s Center for Performing and Fine Arts (CPFA) in West Chester, and for her senior project she has organized a Bowls for Hope Soup Supper to benefit the West Chester Food Cupboard. The fundraiser will be held April 21 at The Kitchen Studio at Pine Street in West Chester.
Guests at the event will enjoy homemade soups, fresh breads, and desserts – and take home beautiful handcrafted soup bowls made by local artisans and CPFA students and faculty. Student performers will provide entertainment at the event and attendees will have the opportunity to shop at an Artisan’s Market showcasing handcrafted items and artwork created by CPFA students.

All proceeds from the Bowls for Hope Soup Supper will support the West Chester Food Cupboard.
“Each day the West Chester Food Cupboard is doing what it can to bring fresh, wholesome food to individuals and families in need,” explains Flamminio. “We’re hoping this fundraiser will help them continue their mission.”
It’s an issue Flamminio is passionate about, and something she has tried to raise awareness about throughout the school year.
“My goal this year was to educate my peers on the issues facing individuals and families in our own community,” said Flamminio, “and to take steps to make a difference. By bringing together the talents of so many people in my school and the community, we are giving the West Chester Food Cupboard help to do what it does best.”
Flamminio’s Bowls for Hope Soup Supper is open to the public and has two ticket options. A $25 ticket provides admission for two and the opportunity to take home one of the handcrafted soup bowls. There are only 50 handcrafted bowls, so pre-registration is recommended to guarantee a bowl. Register online at https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?ticketing=cfpfa. General admission to the Soup Supper is $10, and all attendees will enjoy a homemade soup and bread meal, entertainment, and the chance to shop in the Artisan’s Market.
The Bowls for Hope Soup Supper will be held at The Kitchen Studio at Pine Street, located at 901 S. Bolmar Street in West Chester. The event runs from 5PM to 7:30PM on April 21.
