Holiday Fun in West Chester, PA

West Chester is the best location for holiday fun for everyone.

The charming borough of West Chester was founded in the southeastern region of Pennsylvania and has a history that dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. As the town grew, the location became known for its industry. During WWII, the community led the country in manufacturing the life-saving antibiotic penicillin. Today, the destination has a number of attractions and historic sites. But, during the holiday season, the town boasts a number of celebratory events that attract locals and visitors alike.

For more than three decades, the Brandywine Ballet presented the timeless holiday classic at West Chester University to the delight of young and old. The company delivers eight performances of the beloved ballet from December 13 through December 22 at the campus’ Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall. The two-hour presentation includes Tchaikovsky’s famous music along with elaborate sets and exquisite costumes.

Attend the Christmas Parade

The grand illuminated procession takes place on December 6 at 7:15 P.M. Various local businesses and organizations create the floats that dazzle spectators. QVC hosts the event that additionally features school marching bands, antique vehicles and surprise guests. Prior to the parade at 6:30 P.M., many choose to participate in the Annual US Air Force Jingle Elf Run & Walk. Prizes are awarded for best costume and race winners. From 5 P.M. to 9 P.M., all are invited to visit the Key Financial Holiday Village for hot chocolate, holiday treats, singing and other activities.Ride

Santa’s Express

Meet Santa at the Market Street Station and climb aboard the train for the 90-minute ride through the scenic Chester Creek Valley. Enjoy a festive sing-along accompanied by talented banjo players.

Tour Historic Homes

During the holiday season, the West Chester Public Library hosts the Annual Holiday Home Tour. The tours begin on December 7 from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. Explore 10 different beautiful homes all decked out for Christmas. The community residences were constructed between the 19th and the 20th centuries. Guests also have the chance to buy raffle tickets for the chance to win five different gifts.

While in town, tour the Appalachian Brewing Company. Feast on traditional Italian cuisine at the Limoncello Ristorante. Pick up some homemade holiday treats at Yori’s Bakery.
