Local Senior Living Community Celebrates National Pet Day
Wellington at Hershey's Mill hosted a photo shoot for the residents and their furry friends

Thursday, April 11th was a special day at Wellington at Hershey's Mill senior living community in West Chester. Residents got to show off their fur babies! While they cherish their pets every day, National Pet Day encourages pet parents to take the time to highlight the unconditional love pets bring to everyday life.
The residents got to share stories about their pets and engage in a photo shoot that featured their uniqueness and special bond.

Ray and his wife Carolyn were excited to add Susie to their family nine years ago at just six weeks old.

Part miniature dachshund and part chihuahua, Mimi was born in 2010. Before she started her new life with Barbara two years ago in 2017, Mimi became a mom and had a litter of puppies!

"Her best trait? She will kiss you in the face," Barbara said.

A couple facts about Emma - she doesn't like cars; she likes to steal Jack's seat (after he warms it up) and will eat anything and everything!
"She's great company," Jack said. "And she loves to talk."

Resident Marcy Gregory got Dalton from a Concord pet store, which rescued him from the Faithful Friends Rescue Center in Wilmington, Delaware. Dalton is six years old and became part of Marcy's family in 2014.
"Dalton likes to jump on top of the cabinets and chase his tail," said Marcy. "He loves to climb his cat tree and hide in boxes."

Doug Buttner, executive director at Wellington, got Cody at just eight weeks old. "Cody is a big goofball who loves to run and play with other dogs," Doug said. "He also loves car rides."
Doug also got Mya at just eight weeks old. "Mya has to be touching a human at all times," Doug said. "She worships the ground her older brother walks on and is extremely protective of him." Fun fact: Mya loves cheese and pizza crust!
