'Locker Room Banter' May Be Triggering To Survivors Of Sexual Assault, West Chester University Says

West Chester University has an online hotline offering crisis support to victims of sexual assault.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- West Chester University is providing an online hotline to offer crisis support to victims of sexual assault, and they're evoking recent political headlines to demonstrate the need for such services.

"The recent flurry of vulgar and predatory language in the media is potentially triggering to survivors of sexual assault, and survivors’ friends and loved ones," the West Chester University Masters of Social Work Facebook page posted. "We understand how the acceptance of “locker room” banter contributes to a society that accepts violence against women, and sexual assault in particular."

They are referring to comments made by Presidential candidate Donald Trump 10 years ago which recently came to light. In the comments, he describes what many are calling sexual assault. Trump himself called it "locker room banter."
