Make the World a More Loving Place

Spread love. Save lives. Meet other dedicated people. Defend human rights. Amnesty International Group 342.

Happy Valentines Day! I hope you had the opportunity to offer flowers or chocolates to your mom, your sweetheart, or someone else very dear to you. Just imagine, however, how devastated you would you be if
you couldn’t give your loved one a hug because he or she was languishing in prison without a date of release in sight. Someone like Turkish human rights defender Taner Kiliç, imprisoned on false charges and released months later, only to be re-arrested the very next day!

Amnesty International, a grassroots organization of ordinary persons who want to make the world a
more loving place, defends prisoners of conscience around the globe by deluging government leaders with letters demanding their freedom. And our letters work! Take the case of Naser Aldeen Mukhtar Mohamed,
a 23-year-old student activist tortured and held in solitary confinement in Darfur for participating in peaceful sit-ins at his university. He was released on January 28, thanks to the flood of letters from people just like you and me.

Come join our work! Amnesty International USA Group 342 meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm in Wegmans Café, located at 50 Foundry Way (at Rt. 29), Malvern, PA. Our next meeting is
scheduled for February 21. All are welcome. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Have a question? Contact social media coordinator Barbara Quintiliano.
