Man Attacked Woman With Rum Bottle In West Chester: Cops

A man wielding a Bacardi rum bottle attacked a woman as she was walking just after midnight, authorities said.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A man wielding a Bacardi rum bottle attacked a woman as she was walking just after midnight recently in West Chester, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Oct. 1 at around 12:15 a.m. on S. High Street near Lacey Street.

James Michael Kerr, 28, of Malvern, began "verbally berating" the 21-year-old woman as she was walking, police said. It is not clear what led up to the incident.

Kerr then hit the woman over the head with the rum bottle, according to police.

Police arrested Kerr a day later, on Oct. 2, at his home.

He's been charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, possessing instruments of crime, and related counts.

A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
