Man, Dog Rescued From Icy Pond Near West Chester

As snow came down Friday morning, a man became stuck in a local icy pond when he tried to rescue his dog.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A man and his dog were saved from drowning in an icy pond by first responders in the West Chester area Friday morning.

The incident occurred at around 8:24 a.m. on the 800 block of West Strasburg Road in East Bradford Township.

A man had gone into the water to rescue his dog, who was drowning, but then became stuck himself.

A 911 caller said that the pair had been in the pond for 10 to 15 minutes and were unable to reach land.

West Chester police arrived within minutes and used a small boat that happened to be nearby to rescue the pair, who were about forty feet out into the pond.

The man dog were brought safely to shore and are now recovering.
