Motorcyclist Honored After Rescuing Bald Eagle From Chesco Road
The injured bald eagle was lying the middle of the road, unable to fly away, when the biker leapt into action.

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — It's not every day that motorcycles and PETA have cause to be in the news together, but they are now thanks to the recent heroics of a biker in Chester County.
Dandon Miller was riding home to Downingtown from Philadelphia over Memorial Day weekend when he spotted a bald eagle lying in the middle of the road, unable to fly away.
Miller came to stop, picked up the bird with his shirt, and carried her safely to the side of the road. Once there, he called authorities, according to PETA. Tri-State Brid Rescue and Research came to help about 45 minutes later.

His actions did not go unnoticed, and PETA has awarded Miller a Compassionate Action Award.
"Dandon Miller showed selflessness and compassion by literally taking the shirt off his back to help an injured bird," PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said in a statement. "PETA hopes his kind example will inspire people everywhere to stop and help any animal in trouble."

His actions likely saved the bald eagle's life. She underwent surgery on her injured wing and talons, and is already eating on her own, PETA said. They plan to release her into the wild.
For his efforts, Miller will receive a framed certificate and some vegan cookies.
"I do love animals," Miller said. "And I wouldn't want to see any animal get hurt."
