'No Danger To Community' After Hazmat Response In Chester County

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Authorities gave the all clear Tuesday morning after the Hazardous Materials Response Team was called to the scene of an incident.

The incident occurred in West Whiteland at around 6:27 a.m. at Johnson Matthey, located on 1401 King Road.

Officials said that it was believed that smoke was coming from a storage system on the property.

Johnson Matthey, a metal fabricator, has sensitive and potentially hazardous chemicals on site, so the hazmat team was called in.

An investigation revealed that the fire suppression system merely malfunction, and that there was no smoke, fire, or chemical release, police said.
