Not Your Average Joe's Restaurant Brings Out-of-the-Ordinary Dining Experience To PA

Glen Mills, Pa. – Not Your Average Joe’s, the New England-based restaurant known for its globally inspired, chef-driven menu at affordable prices, will make its Pennsylvania debut Monday, June 23, 2014. The restaurant will open at 561 Glen Eagle Square in Glen Mills, PA 19342 in the Glen Eagle Shopping Center on Rte. 202.

"As you might guess from our name, Not Your Average Joe's was created for people who don't like to settle for average," said Steve Silverstein, the restaurant's founder and CEO.

Silverstein, who was heading his family's successful menswear business at the time, longed to find a great, reasonably priced restaurant in the suburbs, where people know your name and where you feel special without dressing up. When he couldn't find it, he opted to build it, despite a lack of experience in the restaurant business. The first location opened in Dartmouth, MA, in 1994. Since then, Not Your Average Joe’s has grown to include 19 locations along the East Coast including Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

"We think Not Your Average Joe's and Glen Mills make a great match," Silverstein added. "Proximity to Philadelphia — one of the greatest food towns in America — means area residents are very discerning about their dining options. We're confident that they'll really appreciate our innovative, chef-driven menu and bend-over-backwards service at affordable prices."

Menu items range from comfort fare such as the Anything But Average Meatloaf and Mustard-Crusted Chicken to globally inspired dishes like Steak Frites and Rosemary Skewered Scallops. Because each dish is made to order, guests are encouraged to request customization to meet dietary restrictions or taste preferences.

In addition to an extensive food menu, Not Your Average Joe’s offers an award-winning wine list and a broad spectrum of local, national and imported beers. With 40 bottles of wine, 21 of which are served by the glass, and 20 beers on tap, guests can find the perfect pairing to any meal.

The restaurant will seat 200 people, with an impressive bar plus 70 seats on a patio. Silverstein describes the interior as elegantly casual with an industrial-chic, including many reclaimed materials and artisan-made furnishings. It’s an aesthetic that reflects the restaurant's commitment to creativity and design.

The restaurant is expected to employ over 100 area residents. Interested candidates should contact Seth Caplan at scaplan@nyajoes.com. More information on Not Your Average Joe’s is available at www.notyouraveragejoes.com.
