"Nowruz Mobarak" Means We Stand With You
Defend human rights. Meet other dedicated people.

DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER TONIGHT’S MEETING IS CANCELED. Please join us for our next meeting on April 18.
On March 21, people in Iran will celebrate Nowruz, or Persian New Year, by wishing one another Nowruz mobarak (Happy New Year!). For Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee and her husband Arash Sadeghi, however, Nowruz
will usher in yet another year of imprisonment following an unfair trial. Golrokh was sentenced to six years for writing a fictional story about the horrific practice of execution by stoning. Arash was sentenced
to 19 years in Evin prison for his peaceful human rights activities. During his detention he has been subjected to severe torture.
We are Amnesty International, and we champion the rights of prisoners of conscience worldwide,
individuals who have been imprisoned solely for the peaceful expression of their views. We mobilize the public to flood government officials with appeals on behalf of the prisoners. And these letters get results!
In February, Venezuelan prisoner of conscience Villca Fernández finally received medical care after having been denied treatment since June 2017. More recently, false charges were dropped against Equatorial
Guinean cartoonist and activist Ramón Esono Ebalé, and he was released from prison.
