Owner West Chester Dog Launches Fundraiser For Desperately Needed Surgery

"She isn't just a dog. She's a part of my family."

The owner of a West Chester german shepherd has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for her dog’s surgery.

Athena, 5 years old, has something stuck in her stomach that is pulling on her intestines, her owner says.

She needs surgery immediately, which will cost about $6,500, according to doctors.

My 5year old GSD had gotten sick out of no where and I have already spent 2,000 dollars on tests to figure out what was wrong with her. Athena would not eat, nor drink, and lost a lot of weight. I took her to a surgeon today to get an ultrasound done on her and they found there is something stuck inside Athenas stomach that is pulling on her intestines, and wrapped around her bowls which caused a tare in her bowls. She needs surgery ASAP or Athena could die. The doctors said it will be 6500 dollars to do the surgery and I do not have the money to do it. I can’t bring myself to put down my GSD and want to get this surgery done. So if anybody could donate I would very much appreciate it! Anything will help. She is such a great dog and she just isn’t a dog she is part of my family!

As of December 4, 22 people have donated $750 to the cause.
