Phone Scams, Fake Cops Continue In Chester Co., Sheriff Warns
Real cops "never contact anyone and threaten them with arrest for failure to pay fees or failure to show up for jury duty."

WEST CHESTER, PA — Phone scams are alive and well during the holiday season in Chester County and the surrounding area.
The Chester County Sheriff's Office is warning the public about continued scams involving suspects posing as police officers or sheriff's deputies.
Oftentimes these callers demand direct payments in the form of gift cards, or even ask directly for credit card numbers.

The ruse alleges that the victim is either behind on paying tickets or owes fines for failing to show up for jury duty.
Scammers can also manipulate caller IDs to make it seem as if they are calling from the Sheriff's Office.
