Resolve to Make a Difference in 2018

Good for you! You made that New Year’s resolution to lose weight, get fit, or earn more money. Now resolve to make a difference in the lives of others. You can free Raif Badawi, sentenced to prison and 1,000 lashes for blogging about religious freedom in Saudi Arabia. You can stop the abduction and torture of gay men in Chechnya and gain the release of İdil Eser, Turkish human rights defender.

We are Amnesty International USA, and we defend prisoners of conscience around the globe by inundating government leaders with letters demanding that they respect human rights. These letters really work. Bangladeshi professor Mubashar Hasan, missing and feared disappeared by the government, was returned home on December22, thanks to appeals from ordinary people just like you.

“Thank you to Amnesty International for all that it has done,” Mubashar Hasan’s sister, Tamanna, told AI.
